NKRUMAH CENTENARY AMUSEMENT SPOT
OUT-DOORING 1st JULY, 2010

On this Site, please find an aerial view of an amusement spot dedicated to Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as part of the centenary celebrations. The highlight of the event is the outdooring of Dr. Nkrumah's statue mounted on top of a Ferris wheel.

The statue revolves in a horizontal plane as the wheel revolves in a vertical plane. In the forehead of the statue is embedded an expensive gold star, representing the star of Africa. This is a land mark since there is nothing like that with respect to tourist attractions and monuments anywhere in the world and therefore should make Ghana proud depending on how the media handles it.

The Effel Tower in France (Paris) the London Eye (just a very big Ferris wheel) are land marks in those countries made important by their media. Furthermore every equipment within the complex has been designed and manufactured strictly by Ghanaians with no outside help. It is hoped that the spot will improve the spirit of adventure in our people, remove fear of heights, make our people more daring, whip their alertness and concentration and in short make them better candidates for the race to space just like their counterparts elsewhere who take these things for granted. The complex includes one of the largest Ferris Wheels in Africa, a swing boat, rotating cages that revolve and rotate at the same time, a spinning wagon, a rotating swing designed to simulate the "Yere Sesamu" sign Christened CTED.

The significance of this equipment is that it stresses the need to change the structure of Ghana's Economy from reliance on Agricultural and Industrial Raw Materials to processed engineering goods and services – thus the need for the establishment of an Advance Machine Tool Centre to create machine building capacity for ourselves. The statue of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah rotates anti clockwise - asking why Ghana should be going backwards i.e. behind the Koreans, the Malaysians, etc.

We hope the Spot will encourage the breeding of more selfless leaders and real nationalists who will help move this country forward. This is our crusade and we urge you to be a disciple. This must be food for thought for all. The Chinese took on the world by storm; let us take on the world by a Tsunani. The outdooring of the machines took place at Akapulko opposite the Accra Teachers' Training College on the IPS Road on 1st July, 2010 at 10.00 am.
